Maggie is a freelance stylist, fashion blogger and owner of Lipstick Dinosaur, a vintage clothing company that you could easily say, focuses on the fun and colorful side of life.
What do you wake up thinking about?
I wake up thinking about a TON of stuff! The first thing I think about is my dogs. I take them outside and feed them before they destroy the apartment! After I have my coffee I start to organize my orders for the day and figure out what items I need to add to the store.
What's your morning ritual?
My morning ritual consists of making coffee, toast and putting on an episode of dateline. I use all three of these vices to wake up and think about what I need to do first. Most mornings I am packaging orders and running to the post office.
How does social media play into your daily life?
Everyday I am always trying to figure out how to post Lipstick Dinosaur clothing and other items in a cool and unique way. It's hard! It's totally unrealistic to always be "put together", always be "dressed up" and always "look cool." Social media in itself is a fake world. It's hard to pay into that. I want people to see something real as well as something interesting.
Are we more connected or disconnected than before?
I think we are both connected and disconnected in today's world. Connected in the sense that we can see, post and write anything we want to at any time. We have the ability to connect with more people in THIS way, but the connections are less real in my opinion. Social media almost makes me feel more self-conscious because I am basically just waiting to be judged when I post something! Why should I care if everyone thinks I look like shit or if someone I have never met thinks my clothes aren't cool! It's forcing me to care more about what people think when, in reality, I don't care at all and I should be able to do my thing without a bunch of strangers judging me. I feel most comfortable connecting with people in REAL LIFE, and it sucks that some people lose that reality and they live on the internet, just wanting approval and 'likes' from people that they don't even know. Fuck that shit.
What is most important to you in life?
The most important thing in my life is, love.
