Anna once thought about retiring to a small Guatemalan town called Lake Atitlan, where she participated in Mayan spiritual ceremonies. But, when she ended up shoeless, braless and a head almost full of dreadlocks, she knew it was time to come home. It’s a good thing she did given fashion is in her bones. Anna was taught how to sew by an older Iraqi woman, which helped her translate that skill into pattern and sample making for local designers. Having prior experience as a buyer, seamstress as well as having her own clothing line, Anna knew it was time to start her own company. It was then that V.Mora was born. V.Mora is a fashion consulting company that helps designers realize that having their own fashion line isn’t just a dream, it’s a reality. Anna’s goal is to help emerging designers from inspiration to manufacture, as well as guidance in starting their own fashion line and growing it into a successful business.

What do you wake up thinking about?

Can I press snooze again?

What's your morning ritual?

Depends on the day but, always lemon cayenne pepper tea and green smoothie. I also meditate or do a light yoga stretching. Working out in the AM is a must to get me on the right track unless it is Sunday when I go to get a coffee and read the New York Times.

How does social media play into your daily life?

It is everywhere, there is no avoiding it. I try to post as I feel inspired and I also have a team that takes care of the business end of things for me.

Are we more connected or disconnected than before?

I think we feel more connected but the connection is not a genuine or deep. Sure, I know what all my high school  friends are up to but I have not sat in front of them and had a real conversation or asked them to coffee. Things are faster and less sincere.  I still prefer to pick up the phone as anyone who knows me knows.

What is most important to you in life?

My own happiness, if I am stressed or in a bad mood it has a streamline effect of those around me. If I take care of myself I can fully care for others and my business. Perception is the key to happiness and it starts within.
